How often do you hear about new ways to combat being overweight? Now you can try out Ozempic-Wegovy, the latest weapon against obesity. This revolutionary device helps you burn calories even when you sleep.

Obesity has become a global epidemic. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 2.8 million deaths worldwide are caused by being overweight or obese. In addition, the WHO estimates that nearly 6% of adults aged 18 years and older are obese.

Medications with the potential to help treat obesity are beneficial, especially today, where obesity is rampant and is even considered a significant public health issue. Thankfully, a new weight loss medicine, Wegovy, by the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, has been recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

What do you know about diabetes medicine and obesity? Obesity may be one of the most notable diseases requiring extra care and long-term management. This chronic disease can be linked to several health complications that lessen life expectancy. Some complications related to obesity include cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, and certain malignancies.

What Is Wegovy?

Wegovy, semaglutide (higher dose), a diabetes medicine produced by Novo Nordisk, is now approved as a weight-loss drug.

It’s the first drug approved by USFDA for chronic weight management since 2014.

This weight loss drug specifically aims to assist in chronic weight management of adults with obesity or overweight individuals with weight-related comorbidities like hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes. This medication helps hasten weight loss, as accompanied by the proper diet and physical activity.

Wegovy (semaglutide) injection 2.4 mg is an injectable prescription medicine used to help adults with obesity (BMI ≥30) or overweight (excess weight) (BMI ≥27) who also have weight-related medical problems lose weight and keep it off.

  • Wegovy should be used with a reduced-calorie meal plan and increased physical activity.
  • Whether Wegovy™ is safe and effective when taken with other prescription, over-the-counter, or herbal weight-loss products is unknown.
  • Caution: It is unknown whether Wegovy can be used safely in people with a history of pancreatitis.

How Wegovy, the new diabetes medicine works?

Wegovy reduces the user’s hunger and increases the sensation of fullness, resulting in weight loss. Therefore, users tend to eat fewer foods and reduce their calorie intake. Of course, for this weight loss drug to be effective, the user should also follow proper physical activity and diet.

How Much Weight Loss? (wegovy for weight loss)

One trial involving adults without diabetes showed an average weight loss of 12.4% compared to the group given the placebo drug. Wegovy’s results have indeed exceeded the expectations of researchers and scientists. They even exceeded the performance of other medications already available on the market.

How Do I Take Wegovy?

According to the FDA label of Wegovy, this weight loss drug must be administered once every week during the same day. It may be administered at any time of the day with no needed dose adjustments. Users may also take Wegovy with or without meals. This medication is administered using an injection via the subcutaneous route.

Wegovy side effects

Nausea was the most common side effect reported in Wegovy’s studies.

The most commonly reported adverse reactions have included nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and constipation.

Obesity in childhood

Obesity in childhood is a severe medical condition that affects children and adolescents. It’s particularly troubling because the extra pounds often start children on the path to health problems that were once considered adult problems — diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Childhood obesity can also lead to poor self-esteem and depression.

It is unknown if WEGOVY is safe and effective for children under 18 years of age.

Reviews - From Facebook Groups

I lost 10kgs on Sax.
My food intake didn’t really change when I stopped. I’m a 1 meal a day person. I have no thyroid. And it came right back on. Currently on Wegovy after 2 year break. Have lost 4kgs. Probably all water.

I have been taking Saxenda for a while and my weight loss really just started to pick up. I had a couple of urinalysis in the past month and i am in ketosis. Today it was higher than the last time but still a small amount of ketones. I didn’t want to be and did nit plan that, but I get so busy and I’m not hungry so sometimes I don’t eat until three or four. Has this happened to anyone else?

Well done you! I’ve also changed from Sax to Mounjaro. I’ve lost 10lbs (5 weeks). It’s working a lot better now I’ve gone up to 5mg. Keep up the good work!

Initially, I had excellent results with Saxenda, but after a few months, its effectiveness diminished. I tried Wegovy, but the results were disappointing. Unfortunately, Mounjaro is not available here
